Noel Brock grew up in the Mt. Sinai area, one of ten children. Mr. Brock shares a first hand account of the Depression years and how people survived. Noel's father was a carpenter, and he chose to follow in his footsteps serving as a carpenter's mate in World War II. Floriene Joel Brock comes from a large family of twelve. She recalls stories of her father's orchard and farm operation, living in Wheaton in the 1930s and her involvement in the chicken industry. Since retiring, Noel and Floriene enjoy spending time with their two daughters and five grandchildren. |

Dorothea Rorebeck Cox was born in the close knit Cartmell community which later became the site for Camp Crowder. Mrs. Cox graduated from Exeter High School and shares memories of small town life during the World War II era. She married Hollis Cox, an avid sports enthusiast; they raised their children in Cassville and valued the wholesome family atmosphere. Mrs. Cox's interviews were conducted in the fall of 2006. |

Wilma Thomas Easley was born in the Clay Hill Community. Wilma tells of a large, close knit family and life during hard but simpler times. Mrs. Easley's story is one of a life lived in service. From singing performances, teaching in rural schools, riding the bookmobile, and working along side her minister husband, Loren Easley, she has connected with a wide variety of people. At 96 years young, Wilma is still active in her church, the Senior Center and quilting. Wilma demonstrates how much she loved life and those she shares hers with—her wish is for others to find happiness and fulfillment as well. |

Fredalene Cooper Horner was born on a mountain in Shell Knob, Missouri. Mrs. Horner's family has been in the Shell Knob – Eagle Rock – Cassville area since the Civil War and which has a rich history that she shares. Fredalene tells of country life working on the farm and attending rural schools. She married Wayne Horner and they raised their children while operating a dairy farm. Fredalene's candid narrative and tales are filled with humor and clearly illustrate her good humor and laid back lifestyle. |

Loretta Jeane Smith Mitchell was born and raised in Thomas Hollow on a farm homesteaded by her father. Loretta recalls picking strawberries as a child, and growing up during the Depression and the drought. She married Seligman native Clyde Mitchell, and together they operated the Seligman bank while raising a family and maintaining a farm. Mrs. Mitchell stays active with her children, grandchildren and her garden. |
